USFW

ministry

The United Society of Friends Women Kenya (USFWK) is a women’s programme of Friends Church in Kenya (FCK). It has constituent groups from twenty-three Yearly Meetings spread across Kenya. Our Major objective is to unite Quaker Women in Christian fellowship, prayer and service.

We have several activities undertaken by our ladies.

We will highlight them as follows.

"Women of the church, united in faith and purpose, are a powerful force for good. When we work together in harmony, supporting one another and lifting each other up, we embody the true spirit of community and service. Through our collective efforts, we can achieve great things and create a lasting impact on our church and beyond."

"Dear sisters in faith, your dedication and service to God are a testament to your unwavering love and commitment. Continue to shine your light and serve with all your heart, for in doing so, you not only glorify God but also inspire others to follow in His path. Your work is invaluable, and your impact is profound. Keep serving with joy, knowing that your efforts are making a difference in the lives of many and in the kingdom of God."

Activities

  • Executive Committee meets at least three times a year to guide, co-ordinate and oversight the work of USFWK
  • Prayer meetings are held in March, June and October of every year. USFWK prayer day attracts multitude of women who are challenged by their spiritual journeys and individual needs. This is a time to pray for families, the nation and institutions of learning, among other needs. The most recent prayer meeting was held at Masaba Secondary School, Elgon East Y.M., on 15th June 2024. Approximately eight thousand participants from all YMs attended. We give glory to God who unites us together.
  • 3. The 11th Triennial Conference was held from 17th to 21st April 2024 at Friends Lugulu Girls High School. The theme of the conference was “Living Our Faith” drawn from Romans 1:17 and ably explored by Professor Esther Mombo. The conference was very well attended. Nominations were held and new leadership for the next three years installed as follows:-
    • Presiding Clerk - Everlyne Chonge
    • Vice Presiding Clerk - Serah Litu
    • Recording Clerk - Sally Rakama
    • Reading Clerk - Jackline Osiemo
    • Treasurer - Isabella Nakitare
    • Vice Treasurer - Lucy Ambenge
    • Pastor - Edith Wekesa
  • 4. Visitations USFWK arranges visits to the vulnerable, the needy and the sick in our midst to offer prayer, encouragement and support to such friends. In the recent past two years, Y.M Clerks have visited their sister Y.Ms to facilitate topics at the USFW Annual Conferences. USFWK Officers too have visited all the twenty three YM conferences.
  • 5. Outreach: Our Friends in Turkana get frequent support from Y.M.s in form of food donation and clothing usually delivered at prayer meetings to be consigned to the region. USFWK Clerk had the opportunity to visit Turkana to meet with Friends, distribute food in Manyattas and share the Word of God.
  • 6. USFWK Project: Quaker Resort Centre is a major project of USFWK. The forty two (42) room facility is nearing completion. It is intended to host conferences, provide accommodation, training and workshops. Mama Dorothy Selebwa is the Project Director. The major source of funding is support from Yearly Meetings, individual members, friends, as well as our families and well wishers. The last such fundraising was held on 29th June 2024. We wish to appreciate all of you for your generous contributions. Thank you for standing with us time and again.

I wish to thank all Y.Ms Clerks and Pastors for their support to USFWK. God bless you all.

    Yours in the Lord’s service.

Mama Evelyn Chonge - Presiding Clerk.
