Musingu Yearly Meeting

Musingu yearly meeting has its history way back in 1917. The Musingu mission station was planted in the year 1917 when musingu community donated land (33.4 acres) to the missionery whereby a church and school were installed under the musingu tree. Musingu stood on the boundary of Idakho and Isukha locations by then. The new converts came to live in this mission land on what was called “mulaini” or communal living. This went on to mid-1940s. From here missions to outreach Idakho and beyond continued that generated to many schools and churches within the region

In the year 1993, The east Africa yearly meeting of friends church ( Quakers) yielded to a request and granted the five regional meetings a yearly meeting namely : Musingu, kakamega, chebuyusi, Navakholo, and shanderema. Musingu region which was the senior most and larger of the regional meetings was poised to host the newly yearly meeting. It emerged however that logistical and geographical factors disadvantaged chebuyusi, navakholo and shanderema regions that relocated to kakamega hence forming kakamega yearly meeting

In the year 2010, Chebuyusi yearly meeting was created and consented at shimanyiro annual general conference. Its during this conference that the spirit of musingu yearly meeting was revived. After consultations, the matter was committed to prayer. In March 2013, a formal request was made to kakamega yearly meeting. Despite the many challenges encountered along the process, musingu yearly meeting was inaugurated on 18th December 2016 and officially granted on 16th April 2017.
